33-Year
Resident Of LaSalle

About Me

Character, Integrity, Strong Work Ethic, Experience

I am a retired Superintendent of Education from the WECDSB and a 33-year resident of LaSalle, married to Cara with two adult children, Andre and Celina. The decision to build our home in LaSalle was an easy one and has proven to be a wonderful place to raise and nurture a family.

As a retired Superintendent, I have a lot of time and attention to devote to LaSalle. I’ve always believed, as evidenced by my extensive community involvement, that we all have a responsibility to participate, give back and pay it forward. LaSalle is truly a gem in this part of Southwestern Ontario and I believe we are very fortunate to live in this great town. There is much to celebrate and be thankful for! With the right focus on what is necessary, we can together continue to make LaSalle an attractive place to live, prosper and raise a family.

During my first year on LaSalle Council, I have been diligent in my preparation for each council meeting and have consistently demonstrated oversight on financial matters. I have challenged administration to fully integrate all costs associated with the reports presented to fully include a more transparent picture of operational costs and spending which in turn impacts the levy and in return, the tax base. As I declared last year during the by-election, there is still work to be done and I will continue my commitment to be a voice for the taxpayers of LaSalle.

Platform & Priorities:

Focus on what the real and necessary priorities are in our service to the community

  • Prioritize Affordable Taxes and Services, Strategic Planning & Development, Safe and Clean Neighbourhoods
  • Prioritize town infrastructure to meet the needs of an ever-expanding town
  • Safe neighborhoods – support for police and essential services – maintain designation as one of the safest towns in Canada – in Ontario, LaSalle ranked #1, with the lowest Crime Severity Index
  • Priority to ensure that adequate reserves are in place in the case of a catastrophic event and for future unexpected provincial legislative requirements
  • I travel in many circles, education, athletics, arts and hear what our citizens are thinking and concerned about – they expect value for taxes they pay!

Huge shout out to Councillor Mike Seguin

Huge shout out to Councillor Mike Seguin for all his efforts in resolving a safety issue for LaSalle residents. We had a pooling of water issue on the sidewalk in front of our home on Matchett. Mike took pictures and addressed this issue from campaigning days to the days as a member of our Council. He followed up with me on numerous occasions to the resolution of the issue. Thanks Mike for your concern for myself and the residents of LaSalle!!

Flooding Issue on Huron Street

I would like to take this opportunity to thank councillor Mike Seguin for taking care of our flooding issue on Huron St. in LaSalle. When I contacted councillor Seguin on this issue and providing him with detailed pictures, he was able to provide me that he submitted my request and had been forwarded to the roads department and provided me with a detailed summary of the issue that went forward. I want to take this opportunity to thank councillor Seguin for answering my call on this issue. His concern on this issue was not taken lightly. As a resident and taxpayer in this town for over 65 years he made me feel important to the issue I raised and without his voice I do not think this problem would have been resolved as quickly as it was. Thank you!

Committed to the Community

Mike is genuine. He is committed to this community. I remember the first time I read about him running and my Scottish boldness was Call Him! I knew after I was blessed to speak with him the first time. Mike is unstoppable and he cares. I know that first hand. How blessed we are to have him run again. All you have to do is go and look at his track record, he is very much community. Mike will come and listen to the issues and he doesn’t sit on them. He acts on them. We need someone who will listen and understand the issues. Mike is that person.
